Mary Pugh always dreamed of being a business owner. After 10 years of wide-ranging investment and management experience, her dreams were realized. She became one of the founding principals and majority owner of Pugh Capital Management, a fixed income investment advisory firm.

Scott Greiwe, CFA, spent more than a decade trading and analyzing fixed income securities before helping to found Pugh Capital. He began working with Mary in 1983 and shared her vision of starting a firm specializing in fixed income portfolio management for institutional clients.

The founding principals decided to structure the firm as an employee-owned and funded business. They pooled their assets and founded Pugh Capital in July of 1991. This commitment to employee ownership meant that the first few years were lean. But the partners used "sweat equity" and reinvested their earnings until the firm became profitable in 1994.

Some companies aspire to be big, but our vision is a little different. What we value most are relationships. Some of our most valued relationships are those we have developed with our clients. The relatively small size of our firm lends itself to interacting with our clients on a more personal basis. This perspective means that each team member and every client play a critical role in the success of our firm.

After more than a decade in business, many things remain the same. The ownership is unchanged. The investment focus remains investment grade fixed income securities. Pugh Capital's original portfolio management team is still in place. But, perhaps most importantly, our process for portfolio management begins and ends with the needs of our clients.
